The DIRECTORS
BEN AND CHRIS BLAINE
Having spent far too many years making short films, Ben and Chris have made a solemn vow not to make any more now they have completed HALLO PANDA for the Cinema Extreme scheme. They are currently working on a plethora of feature film scripts in their leafy home in Hertfordshire, including a modern-day ROBIN HOOD and a feature-length version of HALLO PANDA. Their mentor is GILLIES MACKINNON (Regeneration, Hideous Kinky).

JOSEPH BRIFFA
Joseph Briffa is a writer/director based in Glasgow. He has made three short films; SIX HOURS OF DAYLIGHT (2004, winner Best New Work, BAFTA Scotland), EVENTS IMMEDIATELY LEADING UP TO (AND INCLUDING) THE FIRST TIME I KILLED (2005) and THE HARVEST (2006). Joseph’s other credits include the documentary I ONLY CAME HERE TO USE THE TOILET, which won the Triptych music festival film competition in 2003, and the recently completed music video epic THE CUT-UP SUITE for Glasgow band Union of Knives. His mentor is PAUL GREENGRASS (United 93, The Bourne Supremacy).

LIZ CROW
Liz has recently completed ILLUMINATION, a 3 minute animation commissioned by the UK Film Council on the Digital Shorts scheme. Her next production will be a series of documentaries and dramas exploring eugenics. Her films have been screened at many festivals and on Channel 4, HTV and ITV2. Her experimental drama FRIDA KAHLO’S CORSET was exhibited at Tate Modern and has won several awards. Liz lives in Bristol. Her Mentor is PETER CATTANEO (The Full Monty, Lucky Break).

ROB FOX
Rob has made short films which have screened at major festivals around the world, including WHAT LARRY SAYS, which was a finalist of the Kodak/Bafta short film prize and was 'Highly Commended' at the Turner Classic Shorts competition, and FUSE, which won the Special Jury award at WorldFest International Film Festival. He has written several developed feature screenplays. Rob lives in London. His Mentor is ASIF KAPADIA (The Warrior).

ANDY HEATHCOTE
Andy’s second short film, ENGLISH GOODBYE, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, screened at many international festivals and won the critic’s prize at the Torino Film Festival. He is currently completing his documentary feature film, THE LOST WORLD OF MR. HARDY, developing his first dramatic feature film, CAPTAIN KIRK with Hugh Bonneville. Andy also has a second feature length documentary, SILENT SEA in development . Andy lives in Sussex. His mentor is RICHARD LONCRAINE (Richard III, Wimbledon).

KOTHAI KANTHAN
Kothai has written and directed two short fiction films, SIMPLE PROTEST and LIVING IN SILENCE, which she has just completed. Kothai is currently developing her third film, an experimental improvised drama AISHA AND NADEEM. Kothai’s other directing credits include documentaries on the civil war in Sri Lanka, THROUGH THE PEOPLE’S EYES and CHILDREN’S RIGHTS? NO PROTECTION, NO PARTICIPATION. Kothai lives in London. Her Mentor is RICHARD JOBSON (16 Years of Alcohol).

DEVA PALMIER
Déva has made several short films, which have screened at top international festivals including PLAIN HUNGER, LOAF and FISHY, and been awarded many prizes including the Silver Plaque at Chicago International FilmFestival. Déva is at present developing a slate of feature films. Déva lives in London. Her Mentor is GURINDER CHADHA (Bride and Prejudice, Bend it like Beckham).

JOE TUNMER
Joe has made four short films including AUTOCUE, winner of Best British Short at Brief Encounters, HOSPITAL FOOD, which screened in Critic's Week at Cannes and MOCKINGBIRD, which received its international premiere at the
Edinburgh Film Festival and is on a successful worldwide festival run. He recently won an international competition to work with Warp Films and the BBC on a new music short. Joe lives in Brighton, and is developing three feature scripts. His mentor is STEPHEN FREARS (The Queen, Mrs Henderson Presents).
