ABOUT GUIDING LIGHTS

Guiding Lights is a year-long mentoring programme designed to support and develop emerging UK-based film industry talent. After two successful rounds of the scheme, we are now launching for a third time.

Following a highly competitive selection process, 25 talented filmmakers and film professionals have been selected to be matched with top industry names for a year of mentoring.

Over the twelve months of the scheme, each participant will develop a one-on-one relationship with their mentor as well as taking part in a number of high-level

industry training and networking
events delivered as part of the
Guiding Lights programme.
Where possible, mentees will
also undertake a short period of
work shadowing.

Guiding Lights aims to help
improve diversity within UK film
industry by addressing the issues
of access which individuals often
face when progressing their
careers.

Participants are provided with
financial assistance towards pre-
agreed travel, subsistence and
childcare costs. We are able to
facilitate access for deaf and
disabled people.

Guiding Lights is run by
Lighthouse, with funding from
the Skillset Film Skills Fund,
Optimum Releasing and
Lighthouse. The scheme also
benefits from the generosity of a
number of in-kind supporters
including One Aldwych Hotel,
Screen International and Moët
& Chandon
.

The programme is part of A
  Bigger Future
, the UK film skills
strategy set up by Skillset and
the UK Film Council to address
skills development across all job
roles in film. The initiative is
supported by the National Lottery
through the UK Film Council and
the film industry through   the Skills Investment Fund.
