ABOUT GUIDING LIGHTS
Guiding Lights is the UK film industry’s most prestigious mentoring scheme. The programme supports upcoming filmmakers through high-level mentoring, complemented by a range of training and networking activities.
The scheme is open to writers, directors and producers who are already active in the industry and developing a career in features. Each mentee is matched with a film professional who provides advice and guidance over a 9-month period. Previous mentors include Danny Boyle, Barbara Broccoli, Sam Mendes, Alison Owen, Alex Garland and Kenneth Branagh.
Alongside the one-to-one mentoring, a number of training events will take place, including during Galway Film Fleadh and London Film Festival. Further access to industry professionals is facilitated by an online networking facility.
Guiding Lights is run by Lighthouse as part of ‘A Bigger Future 2’. The scheme is majority funded by the Skillset Film Skills Fund, supported by the National Lottery through the BFI and the film industry through the Skills Investment Fund (SIF).
We have also previously worked with FÁS Screen Training Ireland and Bórd Scannánna hÉireann/Irish Film Board to include two Irish participants on the programme.
Guiding Lights is sponsored by Studiocanal and benefits from the generosity of in-kind supporters including Screen International and Wine Direct.
A fifth edition of the scheme will be launched later this year. Please watch this space and sign up to Lighthouse's mailing list for further updates and news about Guiding Lights and the rest of their programme.
